East Side Youth Ministry Manager

Redeemer Presbyterian ChurchNew York, NY
$65,000 - $75,000Onsite

About The Position

The Youth Ministry Manager provides critical relational and operational support to East Side Youth. This role is designed for an emerging leader ready to take greater ownership — not just executing systems but helping to shape and improve them. The Manager carries a broader relational portfolio, takes on teaching and volunteer development responsibilities, and participates in cross-ministry planning. This person is a self-starter who brings both organizational competence and spiritual initiative, and is being developed toward greater pastoral and leadership responsibility.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in ministry (in a staff or volunteer capacity), youth work, or a related field
  • Proven ability to work independently and take initiative without close supervision
  • Experience in or demonstrated readiness for public teaching or facilitation
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and invest in volunteers
  • Attend Redeemer East Side and be present on Sundays and throughout the life of the church

Responsibilities

  • Routinely meet one-on-one or in small groups with East Side Youth students (about 4 per week), prioritizing new students, follow-ups, and key pastoral situations
  • Help build the volunteer team through regular touchpoints and spiritual mentorship
  • Maintain personal spiritual health and accountability by praying regularly for the ministry/church and meeting consistently with an outside mentor or counselor
  • Regularly assist in leading small group discussions and other elements such as prayer, games, and mealtime
  • Teach 2-3 times a semester with input and feedback from the team to develop your skill
  • Update attendance weekly, adding new guests, and track who needs follow ups
  • Coordinate volunteers and parents serving on Friday nights during the school year
  • Coordinate logistics for large ES Youth events (printing, ordering/organizing supplies, coordinating with volunteers and ministries, organizing travel and lodging as needed)
  • Engage in planning meetings for Redeemer Youth Network Events
  • Create and manage online registrations for events and programs
  • Prioritize presence at full week and offsite events, like missions trips and retreats. Note, retreat weeks and heavy summer weeks are balanced with mandatory compensatory time off
  • Assist in coordinating parent gatherings and specialized student events (e.g., boys' events) to cultivate community outside of regular weekly rhythms
  • Help execute and attend regular volunteer team community-building and equipping events
  • Manage and execute communication plan and calendar in coordination with Manager of Communications
  • Manage space reservations within the building
  • Write and Send Weekly Email and Regular Parent Emails
  • Oversee the ES Youth Ministry Instagram
  • Manage Planning Center (registrations, attendance, workflows)
  • Run background checks, contact references, and coordinate training for new volunteers on policies and procedures
  • Track expenses and submit through Tallie in a timely manner
  • Research opportunities for students and families to serve regularly in our neighborhood
  • Research youth trends and consider theological implications/equipping opportunities
  • Participate in internal meetings relevant to YM including Staff Meeting (2x/month), Pastoral Care (1x/month), CM/YM meetings (1x/month), and weekly Youth team meetings
  • Coordinate administrative tasks to support ministry
  • Manage YM calendar across internal and external locations and keep it updated with changes
