About The Position

Lava Heights Academy is a residential treatment program in Toquerville, Utah, providing a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment for young women referred by juvenile courts and social service agencies. The youth served may have histories of abuse, neglect, trauma, substance abuse, mental illness, and violence. The program supports them in overcoming challenges, making healthy choices, and preparing for their futures.

As a Youth Mentor, you will provide safety and around-the-clock supervision for youth and create an atmosphere supportive of their needs. You will monitor and document student behavior and activities, assist with educational, social, athletic, and recreational activities, and collaborate with professional staff to establish or meet each student’s treatment-plan goals. The position is based at Lava Heights Academy in Toquerville, Utah, and pays $20.00 per hour depending on experience and education.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Must be able to pass a criminal background check, drug screening, physical, and TB screening.

Responsibilities

• Provide safety and around-the-clock supervision for youth in the program.
• Create an atmosphere that supports students’ needs.
• Monitor and document student behaviors and activities.
• Participate in and assist with educational, social, athletic, and recreational activities.
• Collaborate with professional staff to establish and/or meet the goals of each student’s treatment plan.

• $1,000 bonus after successful completion of Essential Skills Training within the first 90 days.
