About The Position

The Milieu Manager leads daily operations on the milieu, spending most of their time actively engaging with BHTs and YIU Clients. The Milieu Manager provides supervision and support for Behavioral Health Technicians (BHT) and Admissions and Logistics Coordinators. This role is responsible for ensuring BHTs have support, modeling appropriate care, leading interventions and ensuring the unit schedule is followed. The Milieu Manager collaborates with the clinical treatment team to oversee a range of administrative and clinical activities in support of running a safe and therapeutic milieu.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Social Services, Behavioral Health or Education OR High School Diploma and 8 years of experience in behavioral health.
  • 5 years’ (social services, behavioral health or education).
  • 1 year experience in staff supervision.
  • Valid Washington Food Handler card.
  • Agency Affiliated Counselor Registration.
  • Current CPR certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire; training provided by the organization).

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Psychology, Social Services, Behavioral Health or Education
  • Relevant experience working with clients with severe and persistent mental illness in high-intensity/high-acuity setting.
  • 2 years’ experience in staff and program supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development of milieu curriculum.
  • Train, coach and supervise BHTs in their work
  • Train, coach and supervise Admissions and Logistics Coordinators in their work.
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of milieu acuity and client risk, collaborating in a timely manner with staff as needed to ensure effective de-escalation and use of least restrictive alternatives up to seclusion and restraint.
  • Collaborate with treatment team to organize physical interventions with clients as needed including assembling staff, directing actions, ensuring safety of staff and clients. Participate in physical interventions as indicated by agency training and principles, Facilitate post-incident debriefings.
  • Collaborate with YIU Mental Health Professional in the development of individual client behavior plans
  • Ensure therapeutic programming is conducted by applicable team members. Work with Clinical Manager and Director on any needed changes to daily schedule and milieu curriculum.
  • Facilitate pass down with nurse at every shift change.
  • Promote the enhancement of positive staff morale by facilitating a timely response to concerns, ensuring respectful and professional internal communications, facilitating team building and providing opportunities for staff recognition.
  • Supervise screening and admissions workflow, ensuring a timely and organized admissions process.
  • Develop staffing plans based on unity census and acuity trends.
  • Ensure Admissions and Logistics Coordinator creates and maintains YIU master schedule at least 6 weeks in advance.
  • Monitor recruiting dashboard, screen BHT applicants and schedule interviews.
  • Oversee on-boarding and orientation completion for direct reports
  • Direct and oversee kitchen operations, inventory controls, and purchasing processes.
  • Attend all mandatory trainings on time and as scheduled.
  • Keep current on all required documentation (i.e., food worker permit, counselor licenses, etc.).
