About The Position

The Youth & Family Specialist will provide home and community support to promote safety and stability through assessment, direct intervention, care coordination and referral to appropriate services to help meet their needs. This is a community-based role working with families and youth, with a hybrid work schedule requiring 1-2 days in the office.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling, criminal justice, child and family development, education, or related field. Years of related work experience may be substituted for years of education.
Valid driver’s license and auto insurance required.
All KVC Kansas employees must be at least 21 years of age.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience working with children and family services is preferred.
Two or more years’ experience in children and family services preferred.
Prevention Services and in-home services experience.
BSRB Licensure within the state of KS preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive initial assessments using standardized tools to identify family strengths and needs.
Collaborate with families to develop personalized, strengths-based service plans aligned with program objectives.
Facilitate access to essential resources such as housing, healthcare, and employment by coordinating referrals and advocating for timely, culturally responsive support.
Deliver evidence-based training in parenting and life skills including Solution Based Casework to strengthen the five protective factors and enhance family resilience.
Regularly evaluate progress to adjust interventions as needed.
Maintain accurate, confidential documentation and reporting in accordance with regulatory standards.
Actively participate in interdisciplinary case conferences and professional development to ensure integrated service delivery and continuous quality improvement.
Serve as a program ambassador through outreach and partnership building to increase service awareness and resource accessibility.
