About The Position

Nexus-Family Healing is seeking a full-time Youth & Family Skills Coach for their new Therapeutic Host Homes team in Fargo, ND. This role involves working directly with youth and families in a community-based setting. Therapeutic Host Homes provide family-style living arrangements for children (birth-18) with intellectual or developmental disabilities (ID/DD), offering them a supportive environment with a caring provider instead of a group home or institution. The program aims to help children return to their biological families when possible, with ongoing support and mentorship from their host home provider. Requirements

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED
  • Must have completed 2,000 hours of supervised clinical experience delivering clinical services to treat mental health and emotional disturbances with a trauma focus
  • Some experience working with at-risk youth and families
  • Ability to pass all necessary background screening requirements per DHS rules and regulations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data entry skills required
  • Educated on and compliant with HIPAA regulations
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Must meet state regulating agency and Nexus Home Office driving requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors degree or above in one of the behavioral sciences or related fields from an accredited college or university
  • Knowledge of family-based philosophy and practice
  • Experience in related community-based work, working with families, youth, and trauma exposed children and adolescent

Responsibilities

  • Assists clients in using age-appropriate self-management skills, including communication, self-regulation, self-help skills, play, social, and relationship skills.
  • Provides de-escalation and therapeutic supports as needed with clients.
  • Notifies and collaborates with Clinical Supervisor in case of crises and emergencies.
  • Completes clinical documentation in compliance with program expectations; demonstrates strong written and oral communication skills to generate and support program documentation expectations and standards.
  • Attends and participates in clinical supervision and team case consultation meetings in accordance with program expectations.
  • Completes education and training experiences in accordance with program expectations.
  • Ensures minimum hours of direct services as assigned.
  • Maintains compliance with all agency, state, and regulatory standards and remain compliant with all HIPAA regulations.
  • Assists in implementing responses to youth behavior and other skills deficits according to the developed treatment plan.
