About The Position

The Kirk Family YMCA in downtown Kansas City, MO is hiring a part-time Youth and Family Program Assistant to support its youth and family programs. Under the guidance of the Membership Director, the Program Assistant helps keep programs organized and running smoothly. That includes helping prepare for events, keeping program records in order, and answering questions about Y programs. This part-time job suits someone organized and detail-oriented who likes customer service and wants experience in youth and family programs at a nonprofit. It offers a steady, flexible schedule and a front-row view of how a downtown YMCA serves Kansas City families. Requirements

  • At least 18 years old
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least one year of experience in youth programs, childcare, family programs, membership, or a related area
  • Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED certification within 30 days of hire (training is available through the Y)
  • Friendly customer service skills and strong organizational skills

Responsibilities

  • Helps plan and run youth and family programs, activities, and special events, including setup and cleanup
  • Handles filing and general administrative support for youth and family programs
  • Monitors supervision ratios in program areas such as Kids Zone
  • Helps supervise program associates and events in a professional, friendly way
  • Walks the facility to keep participants safe and programs running smoothly, and reports unsafe conditions, repairs, complaints, or injuries right away
  • Follows YMCA risk management policies and Emergency Action Plans
  • Keeps the Membership Director informed of scheduling, facility, participant, or associate concerns
  • Completes accurate accident and incident reports and submits them to the Executive Director
