About The Position

The Salvation Army is hiring a Youth & Family Ministries Coordinator to join the Harrisburg Ministry Team. This role focuses on investing in the lives of young people and their families, developing and maintaining relational ministry opportunities. The primary goal is to conduct an ongoing evangelical ministry to introduce children and their families to Jesus Christ, providing an environment where they can grow in their faith and walk of holiness. The coordinator will provide visionary leadership for all children's, teen, young adult, and family ministries, developing and leading Christ-centered programs that foster spiritual growth, discipleship, outreach, and family engagement. This includes overseeing youth ministries, music and arts, recreation, nursery operations, volunteer leadership, and evangelistic programming. The role involves collaborating with the ministry leadership team, participating in community outreach and Salvation Army events, supporting worship and Christian education, and advancing the mission of The Salvation Army through compassionate service and discipleship. This is a ministry position requiring a mature and active Christian faith consistent with the doctrines and mission of The Salvation Army, demonstrating Christ-like character and serving as a positive Christian role model.

Requirements

  • Experience working with children and families.
  • Solid and mature Christian faith.
  • Must be 21 years or older.
  • Music & Arts experience.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
  • Computer skills in Word and Excel.
  • Must treat all people with compassion and respect.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and appropriate intervention skills within The Salvation Army.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License and be able to drive for The Salvation Army.
  • Completion of PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, and PA DHS Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check.
  • Completion of a Pennsylvania approved Child Abuse Recognition and Reporting Training prior to employment.
  • Must understand and support the Mission of The Salvation Army.
