About The Position

This position involves researching, developing, and executing fun and engaging lesson plans to create opportunities for discovery learning, adventure, and recreation for "at-risk" children and youth. The role provides group and/or individual assistance in academic and non-academic activities, participates in client progress meetings with parents and school personnel, and attends administrative and staff meetings. The Youth Facilitator is responsible for providing information for reports and may coordinate internship or job opportunities for clients. Tasks are subject to modification.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or HSE
  • Two years direct experience working with children under 13 years of age
  • School-age Child Care Credential or other Office recognized credential specific to the school-age developmental period, and One year experience working with children less than 13 years of age
  • Associate's degree in Child Development, Elementary Education, Physical Education, Recreation or a related field
  • Ability to obtain and maintain: Doctor's note certifying good health
  • Proof of negative results from TB test
  • State Central Registry (SCR) clearance
  • Dept. of Health fingerprint clearance (DOH)
  • Dept. of Education fingerprint clearance (DOE)

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with the youth development field
  • After school or summer camp experience

Responsibilities

  • Research, develop and execute fun and engaging lesson plans (activities)
  • Create opportunities for discovery learning, adventure, and recreation
  • Provide group and/or individual assistance to "at-risk" children and/or youth student participants in academic and/or non-academic activities
  • Participate in client progress meetings/conferences with parents and school personnel
  • Participate in administrative and staff meetings as requested
  • Provide all required information for weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual reports
  • May actively solicit and coordinate internship or job opportunities for clients
