YMCA of Southwestern Ontario was founded in 1856 and has over 200 locations from Goderich to Point Pelee, and Windsor to Woodstock. We are one of the largest not-for-profit providers of licensed child care in Canada and have over 100 school age programs across our regions. We also offer settlement services to newcomers, employment programs, mental health support, and youth programs. YMCA of Southwestern Ontario operates two overnight camps, one in Point Pelee National Park, and one on Beausoleil Island in Muskoka. Requirements

  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills
  • Experience working with youth aged 13-18
  • Participation in YMCA Canada Positive Youth Development training (training provided)
  • Current and acceptable Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Position Screen is a condition of employment for all staff and volunteers
  • Current standard First Aid and CPR
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or have refugee status for the duration of employment
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number and legally entitled to work in Canada

Responsibilities

  • Create an energetic, professional, safe, and fun environment during programming
  • Develop healthy relationships with youth
  • Deliver youth drop-in programming and registered programming while incorporating youth voice
  • Deliver YMCA youth programs: Junior and Senior Leaders
  • Set-up and take down of activities/equipment
  • Provide supervision of youth during program hours
  • Provide guidance for conflict resolution between youth participants
  • Complete sign-in with youth to collect data of participation numbers, memberships and pass usage
