About The Position

Beth El Synagogue is seeking a Youth Engagement Associate to support its dynamic Jewish community. This is the first-ever Youth Engagement Associate role, serving approximately 50% of the time in behind-the-scenes administrative tasks and 50% in front-facing interactions. The associate will support the Director and the operations of the Youth Department in administrative and congregant-facing capacities, engaging with young people from newborns to high school seniors. The role involves coordinating department logistics, supervising youth during events, supporting communications, assisting with event preparations, and generally aiding Youth Department staff and faculty.

Requirements

• Highly-organized, driven, and able to work collaboratively and independently
• Able to lift 30-40 lbs
• Enjoy working with young people of all ages
• Spent some years working in education and/or youthwork spaces (camp, school, youth group)
• Maintain positive and professional relationships with young people
• Understand Jewish communal life (culture, education, holiday/lifecycle)
• Work comfortably with Google Workspace and Microsoft 365

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and maintain department logistics and operations (calendars, registrations, rosters, etc.)
• Supervise and support young people during events/gatherings/programs
• Support communications across the department between young people, families, faculty, and staff
• Support department events/gatherings/programs (communicate with staff, gather materials, set up spaces, etc.)
• Otherwise assist Youth Department staff and faculty in their work with young people
