Youth Engagement Associate
About The Position
Beth El Synagogue is seeking its first-ever Youth Engagement Associate to support the operations of its Youth Department. This role is a blend of behind-the-scenes administrative tasks and front-facing interaction with congregants, serving roughly 50% of their time in each capacity. The Youth Department engages hundreds of young people from newborns to high school seniors through various programs and activities, including Shabbat childcare, elementary school programs, and teen youth groups. The Youth Engagement Associate will play a crucial support role, not a supervisory one, reporting to the Director of Youth Engagement.
Requirements
- Highly-organized, driven, and able to work collaboratively and independently
- Able to lift 30-40 lbs
- Enjoy working with young people of all ages
- Some years of experience working in education and/or youthwork spaces (camp, school, youth group)
- Ability to maintain positive and professional relationships with young people
- Understanding of Jewish communal life (culture, education, holiday/lifecycle)
- Comfortable working with Google Workspace and Microsoft 365
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and maintain department logistics and operations (calendars, registrations, rosters, etc.)
- Supervise and support young people during events/gatherings/programs
- Support communications across the department between young people, families, faculty, and staff
- Support department events/gatherings/programs (communicate with staff, gather materials, set up spaces, etc.)
- Otherwise assist Youth Department staff and faculty in their work with young people
