About The Position

St. Francis Xavier University is expanding institution-wide experiential learning and student pathway initiatives designed to strengthen student engagement, graduate outcomes, and career readiness. The Youth Employment & Student Pathways Coordinator will support student career development, experiential learning awareness, and employment readiness initiatives within the Centre for Experiential Learning (CEL). The role will contribute to the Youth Employment Initiative (YEI) and support the development and delivery of XPLORE, a university-wide student development and career exploration pathway focused on self-discovery, career exploration, experiential learning, academic decision-making, and student success. Working collaboratively with campus partners, faculty, alumni, employers, and students, the Coordinator will assist with student programming, events, communications, engagement initiatives, and pathway development activities that support student success and workforce readiness. This position may be especially well suited for individuals interested in student engagement, experiential learning, career development, human resources, event coordination, or higher education administration.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree required
  • Background or interest in career development, student affairs, human resources, experiential learning, education, communications, or related fields
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate projects, events, or student initiatives involving multiple stakeholders
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multiple projects and stakeholder groups
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced and evolving environment
  • Demonstrated initiative, professionalism, and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong digital and administrative skills, including experience with Microsoft Office and online communication tools

Responsibilities

  • Support the planning, coordination, and delivery of student-facing workshops, events, and engagement activities.
  • Assist with the development of programming focused on career exploration, experiential learning, and student pathways.
  • Help support student participation, outreach, and engagement strategies.
  • Contribute to the development of materials, resources, and communications for students.
  • Assist with coordination and administration related to the Youth Employment Initiative (YEI), with a focus on supporting historically excluded and underrepresented student populations with career and employment related inquiries.
  • Support the recruitment, onboarding, and coordination of students participating in part-time placement opportunities.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for students participating in YEI-supported placements for African Nova Scotian, Mi’kmaw, and Indigenous students.
  • Help foster an inclusive, supportive, and student-centred environment that supports student confidence, engagement, and preparation for future employment opportunities.
  • Monitor student engagement and provide ongoing support throughout placement experiences.
  • Liaise with employers, community partners, and campus stakeholders involved in student placements.
  • Assist with placement matching, communications, scheduling, and troubleshooting.
  • Support development of student resources, orientation materials, and placement documentation.
  • Track participation data, placement outcomes, and program activity information.
  • Assist with reporting, evaluation, and documentation related to funded initiatives and student outcomes.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of YEI programming and student support processes, particularly related to student access, participation, and inclusion.
  • Coordinate the development and delivery of the XPLORE program and related student learning initiatives.
  • Support workshops and activities focused on self-awareness, strengths identification, goal setting, career exploration, and experiential learning awareness.
  • Support the use of self-assessment, reflection, and career exploration tools that help students identify strengths, interests, values, and potential pathways.
  • Coordinate logistics for workshops, panels, presentations, and student engagement events.
  • Assist with scheduling, registration, speaker coordination, and event promotion.
  • Assist with participant recruitment, registration, communications, and program evaluation.
  • Collaborate with campus partners to support the planning, delivery, and continuous improvement of XPLORE programming and student pathway initiatives.
  • Assist with gathering student feedback, participation data, and event evaluation information.
  • Contribute to assessment and continuous improvement activities related to student engagement, learning, and pathway exploration outcomes.
  • Liaise with campus partners, faculty, alumni, employers, and community organizations.
  • Assist with communications, promotional materials, and outreach activities.
  • Support collaborative planning processes across multiple departments and stakeholder groups.
  • Contribute to marketing and visibility efforts related to experiential learning and student pathways.
  • Maintain records, program documentation, and tracking systems.
  • Assist with data collection, reporting, and assessment activities.
  • Support general operational activities within the Centre for Experiential Learning.
  • Participate in meetings, planning activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.
