About The Position

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Snohomish County (BGCSC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing young people aged five (5) to eighteen (18) with a safe and positive environment for their time before and after school and during the summer. Clubs are strategically located in neighborhoods to be accessible to all children. The organization aims to empower all young people, especially those who need it most, to achieve their full potential as productive, caring, and responsible citizens. Under the supervision of the Unit Director, the Youth Development Professional is responsible for assisting in the implementation of various programs and activities designed to foster three key outcomes for youth: Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, and Good Character & Citizenship. In this role, Youth Development Professionals interact directly with youth, creating a safe and enjoyable atmosphere while helping members develop confidence and essential skills.

Requirements

• Sixteen (16) years of age or older
• Ability to remain positive and organized in a fast-paced work environment
• Ability to incorporate organizational values fun, respect, integrity, community, and acceptance into all practices
• Ability to pass a drug test upon hire
• Ability to pass a background check in accordance with BGCSC standards upon hire
• Ability to walk or stand constantly with or without reasonable accommodation
• Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 lbs with or without reasonable accommodation
• Ability to use fine motor movements with or without reasonable accommodation

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience working with youth or a background in early childhood education preferred
• Flexibility to work different hours based on seasonal and operational needs

Responsibilities

• Assists Program Director in planning and implementing activities for the youth that provides a sense of belonging
• Assists with managing program supplies and equipment
• Engages in physical activities such as sports, S.T.E.M, and arts and crafts
• Supervises the children independently in regulation of WA state law and Boys and Girls Club of America standard
• Prepares snacks for children using various kitchen tools while practicing food safety
• Support behavior in youth using trauma-informed practices
• Work with a wide variety of youth
• Support membership enrollment
• Ensure youth are safe and engaged in activities, this includes all safety requirements for Boys and Girls Club such as the 10 BGCSC Policies for Protection of the Youth
• Create positive and supportive relationship with youth
• Actively practice and participate BGCSC Cultural DNA guidelines
• Reliable attendance so scheduling is accurate and in compliance with child-to-staff ratios in regards to WA State law and BGA standards
• Maintains organization and cleanliness of club, including but not limited to, all activity spaces, washing dishes, taking out trash, and organization of children’s belongings
• Maintain proper upkeep of equipment and supplies
• Other duties as assigned by Unit Director
