About The Position

This position will serve as a Youth Development Educator for Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Jefferson County. Under the leadership and oversight of the Youth and Family Program Manager, the educator will implement youth development programming at schools, community organizations, camps, and other community-based settings. The role involves delivering and coordinating educational programs such as 4-H afterschool programming, financial education (Mad City Money), Student Government, 4-H Camp Wabasso educational programming, family engagement, community outreach, and other grant-funded initiatives. The position also provides program support to Community Schools, assisting with educational programming, material coordination, and reporting. The educator will collaborate with various stakeholders to foster positive youth development, leadership, workforce readiness, financial literacy, STEM, healthy living, and life skills.

Requirements

Master’s Degree or Equivalent Education (Bachelor’s Degree and four (4) years transferrable relevant evidence-based research experience).
Experience relevant to the role of the position.
Valid NYS Driver’s License and the ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.
Ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends.

Responsibilities

Assist the Youth and Family Program Manager in the development of youth development educational programming and strategies.
Research, identify, and select existing educational resources and curricula for program use.
Structure assigned educational programs to meet the needs of participating youth, families, schools, and community partners.
Maintain effective working relationships with schools, community organizations, program partners, and other youth-serving agencies.
Evaluate educational programming and recommend improvements.
Work cooperatively with Youth and Family Program staff to expand and strengthen educational programming.
Teach and facilitate established youth development educational programming utilizing a variety of delivery methods.
Coordinate and implement assigned educational programming within schools, community organizations, Camp Wabasso, and other community-based settings.
Deliver educational programming focused on leadership, workforce readiness, workforce development, financial literacy, STEM, healthy living, citizenship, and life skills.
Coordinate and deliver assigned programming including 4-H Afterschool programming, financial literacy education, civics education, workforce development programming, family engagement programming, community-based educational programs, and other grant-funded or Association youth development initiatives.
Support 4-H Camp Wabasso through coordination and delivery of educational programming, supporting school field trips to camp, and other assigned educational activities (including the low and high ropes challenge course).
Assist with Community Schools educational programming by providing program delivery and support, including preparation and organization of educational materials.
Assist with the collection, organization, and reporting of program data.
Implement educational programming appropriate for youth of varying ages, maturity levels, abilities, and interests.
Serve as a resource to youth, families, schools, community organizations, and program partners.
Prepare required program reports and maintain program documentation.
Work cooperatively with Association staff to achieve overall Youth and Family Program goals.
Work cooperatively with the Youth and Family Program Manager to establish priorities, objectives, schedules, and programming.
Assist with implementation and monitoring of grant-funded programming.
Assist in identifying program supply, equipment, transportation, and resource needs.
Monitor assigned program expenditures and assist with purchasing, invoicing, and financial documentation.
Coordinate program schedules, registrations, facilities, transportation, educational materials, supplies, purchasing, and other logistical needs.
Coordinate with schools and community partners to schedule educational programming and ensure appropriate support.
Assist with community outreach, educational displays, tabling events, and promotion of Youth and Family Program opportunities.
Ensure assigned programs are conducted in accordance with Cornell Cooperative Extension policies, grant requirements, insurance requirements, safety procedures, and risk management practices.
Assist and support traditional 4-H and countywide Youth and Family Program activities, including County Fair, State Fair, National 4-H Week, AG Venture Days, and other special events.
Transport program participants and/or program materials and resources, and participate in overnight programs, trips, or events.
Develop and pursue a professional development plan to increase competencies and address changes in programming and association priorities.
Collaborate in activities that support Cornell Cooperative Extension, including staff meetings, expense reporting, working with other staff, and marketing Extension programs.
Support the association to maintain a safe working environment.
Be familiar and strive to follow applicable federal, state, local regulations, association health and safety policy/procedure/requirement and standard.
Act proactively to prevent accidents/injuries and communicate hazards to supervisors when identified.
