About The Position

The Youth Development Counselor Manager with the Department of Human Services, Bureau of Juvenile Justice Services (BJJS), is a leadership role that shapes positive futures at Youth Forestry Camp #3. This role leads clinical and administrative efforts to guide treatment programming and support professional staff at Youth Forestry Camp #3. As a Youth Development Counselor Manager, you will guide staff on treatment matters and support improvement of clinical services, assess training needs and coordinate specialized instruction for staff development, monitor counseling documentation and ensure effective delivery of treatment interventions, review employee performance, provide feedback, and support teamwork across assigned units, maintain a secure environment through active supervision and appropriate response to emergencies, and ensure case planning and required reports meet agency standards and documentation guidelines.

Requirements

  • One year of experience as a Youth Development Counselor Supervisor (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration)
  • Two years of professional counseling experience with court adjudicated or socially maladjusted individuals in an organized program, one of which was supervisory, and a bachelor’s degree in the behavioral sciences, special education, juvenile justice, or criminal justice
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes two years of professional counseling experience, one of which was supervisory, with court adjudicated or socially maladjusted individuals in an organized program
  • Meet the PA residency requirement
  • Able to perform essential job functions
  • Satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance
