About The Position

Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco (BGCSF) is seeking a Youth Development Coordinator for its Bayshore School-Based Clubs in Daly City, CA. This part-time, year-round position offers 20 hours per week and is benefits-eligible. The role is crucial in supporting the Clubhouse or School-Based Club by providing program and departmental support to Club Staff. The Youth Development Coordinator will be responsible for running or supporting programs for youth aged 4-8 years (TK-2nd grade), ensuring the achievement of program goals and objectives. Additionally, this role may assist the Site Director with administrative duties, including data entry and reporting. BGCSF has a long history of providing high-quality youth development services, focusing on academic success, healthy lifestyles, good character, community engagement, and job readiness.

Requirements

  • No prior experience working with children required; a passion for working with youth is essential
  • Previous work or volunteer experience ie: customer service, education, retail, community programs, etc.
  • Desire to co-facilitate or support teammates in program development
  • Proven communication, organizational, and self-starter ability
  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand for at least 2 hours consecutively.
  • Must be able to sit at a computer workstation for long periods of time.

Nice To Haves

  • Candidates with education or coursework in Early Childhood Development, Education, or related fields
  • 1 year of working in a youth development setting
  • Current Red Cross First Aid/CPR certification (or within 90 days of employment).
  • Bilingual candidates are highly encouraged to apply
  • Active driver's license

Responsibilities

  • Under the direct supervision of the Site Director, supports the Clubhouse or School-Based Club by providing program and departmental support to Club Staff.
  • Runs or supports programs that engage youth ages 4-8 years of age (TK-2nd grade) and assumes accountability for the results in achieving the outlined goals and objectives of those programs.
  • May support the Site Director in various administrative duties including data entry reporting.
  • Helps youth with homework and tutors, runs games, and drop-in activities.
  • Develops educational programs that are stimulating and age-appropriate for all members.
  • Provides an environment that promotes creativity and exploration through learning.
  • Safeguards the confidentiality and safety of all members.
  • Promotes and stimulates membership in the department ensuring that every Club member participates in some Learning Center activities.
  • Understands and communicates to youth the importance of doing well in school and having educational interests and motivation to try new things.
  • Supports site in taking program attendance daily for programs.
  • Works with volunteer tutors and members to participate in an ongoing education improvement program.
