Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco (BGCSF) has provided high-quality, community-based youth development services to youth in San Francisco since 1891. Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Clubhouse Director, the Youth Development Coordinator supports the Mission Clubhouse by delivering engaging, high-impact youth development programming for members ages 6–18. This role is responsible for facilitating activities across learning, arts, and recreation, managing positive youth behavior, assisting with daily operational duties, and supporting administrative tasks like data entry and attendance tracking.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience working with youth ages 6–18 in a youth development setting
  • Ability to build strong, positive relationships with youth quickly
  • Strong behavior management and positive discipline skills while maintaining high expectations
  • Passion for and interest in diverse youth programming (technology, art, sports, academics, recreation)
  • Excellent verbal, written communication, research, and organizational skills
  • Proficiency with PC software (Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop)
  • Detail-oriented self-starter with the ability to build and follow systems in a fast-paced environment with continual distractions
  • Current Red Cross First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain within 90 days of employment)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from an accredited college/university or equivalent youth development experience
  • Bilingual fluency in Spanish and English

Responsibilities

  • Plan, run, and support stimulating, age-appropriate educational, creative, and recreational activities (including homework help, tutoring, drop-in games, and technology/arts/sports projects).
  • Promote department membership to ensure every Club member actively participates in Learning Center activities.
  • Inspire youth to prioritize academic success and build post-secondary goals (college, vocational training, or career paths).
  • Facilitate safe, creative spaces that encourage exploration and safeguard the confidentiality and safety of all members.
  • Assist with daily school pick-ups, meal/snack service, games room activities, and outdoor recreation.
  • Record and track daily program attendance and support administrative reporting under leadership guidance.
  • Collaborate with volunteer tutors and members to maintain an active educational improvement program.
