About The Position

JJYS Youth Development Associate/Specialist- Youth Services Plan Manager

This role involves mentoring, overseeing, and working closely with non-custody youth. At times, the position may require working with high-risk/violent youth offenders while covering at a facility. Responsibilities include scheduling and supervising individual and group activities, assisting in teaching various pro-social, academic, and vocational skills, and implementing specialized treatment plans. The role also involves co-facilitating individual, family, or group sessions with a Licensed Mental Health Practitioner. Employees must pass the Integrated Crisis Response (ICR) intervention program within 90 days of employment and provide crisis intervention when necessary. The position may require resolving potentially dangerous situations to ensure the safety of staff, clients, or the public, and transporting youth. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential for conveying information clearly and concisely, understanding written and verbal information, and communicating effectively.

Requirements

• Two years of paid working experience with troubled or at-risk youth, two years of full-time education or a combination of education and experience to equal two years (for Youth Development Associate)
• Four years of paid working experience with troubled or at-risk youth, four years of full-time education or a combination of education and experience to equal four years (for Youth Development Specialist)
• Paid work at any JJYS facility, Utah State Hospital, Utah State Developmental Center, private residential youth programs, alternative schools (working with at-risk or delinquent youths), juvenile probation/parole, Law enforcement, Correctional Officer, or programs that work with at-risk or delinquent youths.

Responsibilities
