About The Position

As a Youth Detention Security Officer - Access Checkpoint in Columbia, SC, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. As an Access Control Security Officer at a government location, you will help manage entry points, verify credentials, monitor activity, and provide professional customer service to visitors and staff. You will use computer or tablet systems to support badge and access processes, communicate clearly, and help maintain a welcoming, secure environment. Requirements

• Must meet DPSS/DHS requirements for tuberculosis testing and MMR vaccinations.
• At least 6 months of security-related experience is required.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

• Comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• Access control and badge experience is preferred.
• Customer service experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to visitors, staff, and authorized personnel while carrying out site-specific access-control procedures, policies, and emergency response activities.
• Monitor entry and exit points, verify credentials and visitor authorization, maintain access logs, and direct individuals in accordance with facility procedures.
• Control access to restricted areas by issuing, collecting, and accounting for keys, passes, and/or other authorized access devices.
• Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, notifying appropriate personnel and following established security-related procedures.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned entrances, surrounding areas, and perimeter locations to help identify unusual activity or access concerns.
