About The Position

As a Youth Detention Security Guard in Columbia, SC, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. Join Allied Universal at a government location where you will help manage access control, monitor entry points, verify credentials, and support a professional environment through strong communication and customer service. This is a driving post. As part of a caring, agile, and reliable team, you will help address security-related concerns with integrity while creating a welcoming presence for staff, visitors, and the public.

Requirements

  • A valid driver’s license is required in the state where the job is located.
  • COLA DPSS/DHS tuberculosis test and MMR vaccinations are required.
  • At least 6 months of security-related experience is required.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service by carrying out site-specific procedures, screening and verifying credentials for staff, visitors, vendors, and/or authorized persons entering or leaving the location.
  • Monitor access points, visitor activity, and/or restricted areas, helping to deter unauthorized entry and reporting unusual or suspicious activity to site leadership according to established protocols.
  • Respond to incidents, disturbances, and/or critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including supporting emergency response activities when appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate logs, visitor records, incident reports, and/or access documentation in alignment with site policies and government location requirements.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned access areas, entry points, and perimeter locations to support security-related awareness and policy compliance.
