On-call Youth Crisis Worker (Weeknight Availability Needed)

About The Position

Brightpoint is seeking a mission-driven Youth Crisis Worker to join their Youth Services team. This role provides after-hours crisis intervention services to runaway and homeless youth and their families on an on-call basis. The ideal candidate will be skilled in building rapport, listening nonjudgmentally, facilitating communication during conflict, and partnering with youth and families to find solutions. The position requires responding in-person to police departments to offer crisis intervention, meeting with youth and parents to mediate and negotiate solutions, completing initial safety assessments, and potentially transporting youth to temporary placements. Mileage expenses for transportation will be reimbursed.

Requirements

At least two years of college coursework in Social Work or a related field, OR two years of experience working with youth and families, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must have at least a high school diploma/GED.
Availability to respond in-person to after-hours crisis calls (within 60-90 minutes depending on location).
Valid driver's license, insurance, and a reliable vehicle required.
Excellent skills at communicating effectively and empathically, even in a high-conflict situation.

Responsibilities

Provide after-hours crisis intervention services to runaway and homeless youth and their families on an on-call basis.
Respond in-person to police departments to provide crisis intervention services to youth who have run away, been locked out, or are without a safe place to stay.
Meet with youth and parents to understand perspectives, facilitate effective communication, and help the family negotiate a safe and appropriate solution.
Complete initial assessments of safety and protective factors.
Transport youth to temporary placements using a personal vehicle (mileage expenses reimbursed).
