About The Position

Rite of Passage is hiring a Youth Care Worker at Oak Grove Academy in rural Jasper, Florida. Oak Grove Academy uses a therapeutic approach to improve young people’s lives and offers opportunities in areas such as equine activities, sports, culinary arts, medical programs, and masonry. The role provides a positive, safe, and supportive environment for youth and offers opportunities for career growth and self-fulfillment.

The position provides 24-hour security and supervision to help ensure youth safety. The Youth Care Worker monitors and documents behavior, monitors and participates in sports and recreation, and assists and mentors youth as they learn and develop within the program. Starting pay is $19 per hour. A $1,000 training incentive is available for successfully completing the Essential Skills Training Program within the first 90 days of employment.

The schedule follows a repeating 10-day rotation: work two days, take three days off, work three days, and take two days off. The rotation does not restart at the beginning of a new week or pay period. Each shift is 12 hours, including a one-hour unpaid break, for 11 working hours.

Requirements

• Possess a high school diploma or GED and 40 hours of college education, OR have one year of experience working with youth in organized group activities.
• Possess a driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Provide 24-hour security and supervision to ensure the safety of youth.
• Monitor and document youth behaviors.
• Monitor and join youth during sports and recreation time.
• Assist and mentor youth as they learn and develop within the program.
• Help create a positive, safe, and supportive environment for the youth served.
