About The Position

Carrier Sekani Family Services (CSFS) is an innovative and progressive leader in Indigenous health and family services, where culture is central to all operations. Since its inception in the late 1980s, CSFS has expanded to over 475 employees, serving 11-member Nations. This role offers unique experiences, close connections with communities, and the opportunity to work amidst the natural beauty of northern BC. The Youth Care Worker will support the daily operations of Youth Services programs, providing educational opportunities for youth in areas such as health and wellness, impacts of colonization, addictions, family violence, abuse, self-esteem, and culture and traditions. Responsibilities also include responding to crisis situations, evaluating them, and providing support according to established procedures. The role involves facilitating life skill development through workshops, guest speakers, and community experts in after-school groups, and assisting in the coordination and implementation of culture camps. Requirements

  • One-year post-secondary degree or diploma in Child and Youth Care, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Experience working in a leadership capacity with youth.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

Responsibilities

  • Support in the day-to-day operations of the Youth Services programs.
  • Provide educational opportunities for youth in the following areas - health and wellness, impacts of colonization, addictions, family violence, abuse, self-esteem and culture and traditions.
  • Respond appropriately to crisis situations, evaluate the situation and follow established procedures to provide support.
  • Facilitate life skill development by offering workshops, guest speakers and community experts in after-school groups.
  • Assist in the coordination and implementation of culture camps
