Youth Care Specialist Overnight Breaker
About The Position
The Overnight Youth Care Breaker supports Overnight Youth Care Specialist staff by ensuring breaks are provided so staff can return to the floor fully alert. The role assists with milieu duties before and after breaks and is assigned by the Overnight Youth Care Specialist Supervisor to programs needing additional support. The position provides therapeutic and nurturing support to youth with emotional, psychiatric, and/or behavioral challenges, using learned skills and professional knowledge to promote positive change. As an integral member of an interdisciplinary team, the employee attends department team meetings and annual trainings and participates in supervision to strengthen the therapeutic milieu and address individual youth needs. Duties are performed during overnight hours as an awake and alert staff member across various residential programs.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- One year of experience working with youth in schools, residential treatment, or related settings.
- Ability to physically carry out restraints, as necessary.
Nice To Haves
- Some college.
- Experience working directly with seriously emotionally disturbed and/or delinquent youth.
- Experience with crisis management.
Responsibilities
