About The Position

The Valdez-Perry Library is looking for a Youth Assistant to join their team. In this role, you will be a key player in bringing library programs to life, helping kids engage in fun activities, and supporting the Healthy Food for Denver’s Kids initiative. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys a dynamic environment where no two days are the same, from setting up event spaces to building positive relationships with young community members.

Requirements

• Must be between the ages of 14-19
• A genuine passion for working with children and youth in a community setting.
• Dependable, adaptable, and eager to assist library staff and presenters.
• Strong attention to detail when tracking snack deliveries, organizing inventory, and keeping event areas clean and welcoming.
• Comfortable creating promotional materials and connecting warmly with library patrons.
• Valid work authorization that does not require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Order, organize, track deliveries for, and distribute healthy snacks to youth patrons.
• Build strong, positive, and supportive relationships with the youth who visit the library.
• Create eye-catching promotional materials to publicize upcoming youth events and activities.
• Help organize and carry out community events from start to finish.
• Prepare program areas by setting up tables, chairs, equipment, and presenter materials, and clean up after events.
• Greet attendees and ensure everyone signs in prior to programs.
• Work directly alongside program leads and children to facilitate fun, hands-on activities.
• Assist library staff with various tasks while programs are in session and lend a hand with general library duties as needed.
