About The Position

Kentucky River Community Care is seeking a Youth Peer Support Specialist for the Perry County Sapling Center. This is a Regular Full-Time position. The ideal candidate will be between 18 and 35 years of age and have received or be currently receiving services related to emotional, social, behavioral, or substance use disabilities from a child-serving agency or state-funded service. This role involves using personal experiences to guide and support clients, acting as a role model, and empowering clients in their treatment planning and self-advocacy.

Requirements

  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age but no older than thirty-five (35).
  • Receiving or have received at least one (1) child serving agency or a state funded service that is related to youth's emotional, social, behavioral, or substance use disability.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • KFLA training.
  • Demonstrate leadership and advocacy in the field of behavioral health.

Responsibilities

  • Use relevant personal stories to teach through experience.
  • Serve as a role model for clients.
  • Encourage client voice and choice during development and implementation of treatment planning.
  • Support clients while receiving mental health services.
  • Empower clients to be self-advocates.
  • Help clients enhance relationships with community partners.
