This is a part-time Youth Apprentice position in the AMC Burlington - Med Surg: IU Medical Unit. The role involves assisting Registered Nurses (RNs) with the daily care of patients, including personal hygiene, feeding, ambulation, and documentation. The apprentice will also perform various tasks such as measuring vital signs, documenting in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), participating in patient admissions and discharges, and maintaining the nursing area. The position requires the ability to perform patient positioning and transporting duties, which may involve lifting and using assistive devices. The apprentice will work under the supervision of an adult employee for tasks involving patient lifting with mechanical lifts. The role also includes assisting with nutritional needs and maintaining skin integrity. Adherence to infection prevention policies, including hand hygiene and aseptic procedures, is crucial. The apprentice must demonstrate knowledge of age-specific care for patients across the lifespan.
