About The Position

Abundant Life Christian School is seeking a caring and active ALCS student to work as part of our team of classroom teachers and teaching aides in a service-oriented position, providing support to both teachers and students. The Youth Apprentice (YA) will be currently enrolled as a student at ALCS, report directly to a designated mentor, and serve in assigned classrooms. The YA must be enrolled in related coursework and maintain good standing. This is a part-time position, requiring the completion of 450 hours between August 1, 2026, and June 30, 2027. Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience (volunteer or employment).

  • Enrolled in related coursework and maintains good standing
  • Must be able to complete 450 hours between August 1, 2026 - June 30, 2027
  • ALCS YA shall be mature, sincere Christ-followers.
  • Has received Jesus Christ as her/his personal Savior
  • Believes that the Bible is God's Holy Word and the standard for faith and daily living
  • Agrees with the school's Statement of Faith
  • Serve as a Godly role-model for other students in attitude, speech, and actions toward others
  • Attend as a member in good standing at a local church
  • Have the spiritual maturity, academic ability, and personal leadership and integrity to lead a child in the way he should go in partnership with their parents (Proverbs 22:6)
  • Have a love of children and heart to serve others
  • Demonstrates the character qualities of enthusiasm, courtesy, flexibility, gratitude, kindness, self-control, perseverance, and timeliness
  • Meet everyday stress with prayerful consideration, emotional stability, objectivity, and optimism
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and appearance
  • Respectfully submit and be loyal to authority
  • Refuse to use or circulate confidential information inappropriately; avoid gossip and practice Biblical conflict resolution (Matthew 18)

Responsibilities

  • Reflect the purpose of the school which is to honor Christ in every class and in every activity
  • Help teachers with lesson preparation, including collecting materials and setting up equipment
  • Supervise students as designated by their mentor
  • Support teachers by partnering in classroom management
  • Give extra help to students who need special accommodations or are struggling with a concept
  • Collaborate with the teacher to identify students’ issues or needs and recommend solutions
  • Lead and support student free time on the playground
  • Enforce playground rules and maintain safety of students on playground; provide discipline in accord with school policy
  • Supervise and assist students with lunch, as needed or assigned
  • Maintain professional attitude while interacting with students, faculty, staff and parents
  • Treat all children with dignity and respect
  • Participate in professional development, designated meetings, and other opportunities to grow spiritually, enrich/enhance knowledge of childhood education
  • Recognize the need for good public relations; represent the school in a favorable and professional manner to the school's constituency and general public
  • Know the procedures in an emergency
  • Other duties as assigned
