About The Position

This is a part-time Youth Apprentice position in a clinic setting, designed for high school students to gain knowledge of roles within the healthcare environment and explore career path options. The apprentice will assist the department or unit, maintain stock, clean equipment and work areas, complete various errands, and perform general clerical functions. The role also involves developing academic, technical, and communication skills, and interacting with the community, Aurora employees, and patients.

Requirements

• Must be enrolled in high school and working through a state or school sponsored apprenticeship or training program.
• Demonstrates basic academic skills.
• Applies critical thinking and information processing skills appropriately.
• Uses effective personal and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Observes and assists the department or unit to gain knowledge of roles within the healthcare environment to determine career path options while in high school.
• Maintains and orders stock for department or unit.
• Cleans equipment and work areas.
• Completes various errands as directed, including pick-up and delivery of trays, specimens, reports, etc.
• Performs general clerical functions as assigned.
• Develops academic and technical skills, and effective communication skills in areas of interest.
• Responsible for interacting with the community, Aurora employees, and patients.
