About The Position

This is a part-time Youth Apprentice position in the Immediate Care clinic. The apprentice will observe and assist the department or unit to gain knowledge of roles within the healthcare environment, helping to determine career path options while still in high school. Responsibilities include maintaining and ordering stock, cleaning equipment and work areas, completing various errands, performing general clerical functions, developing academic and technical skills, and interacting with the community, Aurora employees, and patients.

Requirements

• Must be enrolled in high school and working through a state or school sponsored apprenticeship or training program.
• Demonstrates basic academic skills.
• Applies critical thinking and information processing skills appropriately.
• Uses effective personal and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Observes and assists the department or unit to gain knowledge of roles within the healthcare environment to determine career path options while in high school.
• Maintains and orders stock for department or unit.
• Cleans equipment and work areas.
• Completes various errands as directed, including pick-up and delivery of trays, specimens, reports, etc.
• Performs general clerical functions as assigned.
• Develops academic and technical skills, and effective communication skills in areas of interest.
• Responsible for interacting with the community, Aurora employees, and patients.
