About The Position

The Youth and Government Program Coordinator will provide middle and high school students with an experiential leadership learning and development program by modeling United Nations and California’s legislature and courts. The program aims to equip student "delegates" with essential skills such as leadership, public speaking, research and writing, core values, teamwork, study skills, and critical thinking to aid their transition from high school through college graduation. The role involves managing program activities, developing and evaluating objectives, and fostering relationships with participants and partners.

Requirements

  • 3 or more years of experience with youth development and programming
  • 2 or more years of experience in staff/volunteer and program management
  • Ability to clear DOJ/FBI background checks
  • CPR, First Aid, and AED certification within 30 days of hire (Provided at no cost to you.)
  • Ability to travel to sites and meetings consistently (reliable transportation)
  • Proficiency in computer and database programs necessary to perform the duties of the job (Google Drive, AirTable, Zoom, etc)

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, train, and supervise 30-40 program advisors (volunteers) necessary to run the Youth and Government program.
  • Plan and execute program activities for Youth and Government.
  • Develop program objectives and review, evaluate, and revise objectives as needed.
  • Assist in the development of training curriculum for Y and G volunteers.
  • Actively engage and develop relationships with all teen program participants in Teen Center.
  • Attend appropriate trainings to enhance personal development potential.
  • Maintain accurate records of Youth and Government program participants.
  • Develop and run the Model UN program.
  • Aid in developing and managing the budget for Youth and Government program.
  • Work with all YMCA collaborative partners to ensure positive and consistent relationships as well as referrals to leveraged services.
  • Actively participate in YMCA events and activities and adhere to the YMCA Core Values.
  • Other duties as assigned.
