About The Position

The Archdiocese of St. Louis strives to teach and share our faith, serve others, and foster unity throughout the St. Louis area. Once a part of Kenrick-Glennon Seminary's campus, the Cardinal Rigali Center in Shrewsbury, MO is today the headquarters and curia (governing body) for the Archdiocese of St. Louis. This role leads and integrates youth ministry and family life initiatives that help young people and families grow in faith, build community, and live out Catholic values in daily life. The role reflects guidance from Church documents like Christus Vivit (on youth) and Amoris Laetitia (on family life).

Requirements

  • Practicing Catholic in good standing with strong knowledge of Church teachings
  • Experience working with youth and/or families
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • All candidates receiving an employment offer must submit a pre-employment screening. The screening will include criminal background check, Family Care Safety Registration, drug screen, employment and educational licensure/certification verification, health screening, and any other screenings deemed necessary for employment. Any offer would be contingent upon successful completion of any required screening.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and lead programs for middle school and high school youth
  • Organize youth group meetings, retreats, service projects, and social events
  • Foster discipleship and spiritual growth through prayer, catechesis, and mentorship
  • Prepare youth for sacraments in collaboration with religious education staff
  • Develop programs that support families in practicing their faith at home
  • Offer workshops and resources for parents on faith formation and parenting
  • Promote family-centered parish events and activities
  • Create opportunities for youth and families to engage together (e.g., service days, liturgical celebrations)
  • Encourage parents as primary faith educators of their children
  • Collaborate with children’s ministry and adult formation leaders
  • Develop and implement communication strategies to effectively engage youth, families, and the parish community through digital platforms, social media, email, and other communication channels.
  • Create, manage, and maintain digital content that promotes youth ministry programs, events, faith formation opportunities, and parish initiatives while ensuring consistency with parish and Archdiocesan branding and communication standards.
  • Utilize social media and digital marketing best practices to increase awareness, participation, and engagement in youth ministry programming.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative partnerships with the Archdiocese and approved third-party ministry organizations and resources, including but not limited to Communio and Hallow, to enhance evangelization, faith formation, and ministry programming.
  • Coordinate with parish staff, volunteers, schools, and external ministry partners to promote programs and ensure consistent messaging across communication platforms.
  • Stay informed of emerging digital communication tools, evangelization strategies, and ministry resources to support the mission of the parish and effectively engage youth and their families.
  • Manage calendars, communications, and program logistics
  • Oversee ministry budget and resources
  • Build relationships with youth and families through regular outreach
  • Provide guidance and referrals for personal, family, or spiritual challenges
  • Maintain a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment
  • Recruit, train, and support adult volunteers and peer leaders
  • Ensure compliance with safe environment policies
  • Provide ongoing formation for ministry volunteers
  • Involve youth and families in parish liturgies (lectors, music, service roles)
  • Collaborate with clergy and staff to align ministry with parish mission
  • Encourage active participation in the sacramental life of the Church
