The Young Investigator position is a postdoctoral program offering unique benefits, enabling individuals to balance collaborative work on an Ai2 project with pursuing an independent research agenda. The role focuses on applying artificial intelligence to solve problems requiring modeling, reasoning, and explanation, contributing to the next generation of intelligent systems with the mission of AI for the common good. The Ai2 Robotics team, led by Dieter Fox, aims to develop and leverage scalable simulation domains to scientifically investigate the scaling and generalization capabilities of foundation models for robotics, and use these insights to develop broadly competent robots. Research is committed to being fully open-source, with a focus on application domains that have a positive impact on society. Applicants interested in robotics, with a focus on core techniques in robot manipulation, large scale training in simulated environments, sim-to-real transfer, robot foundation models, and skill learning are sought. Research areas include robot foundation models, manipulation and skill learning, simulation and sim-to-real, and open-source research. The team regularly publishes in high-profile conferences and journals and collaborates with other Ai2 teams and researchers at the University of Washington.
