Young Adult Peer Mentor - DMH Flexible Support Services - Part Time
About The Position
Peer Mentors provide specialized expertise based on sharing their own lived experience of mental health challenges with purpose and intent to inspire hope and motivation in a youth who is struggling with similar concerns. In this important role, the Peer Mentor provides strength-based, peer–to-peer education, coaching, modeling, guidance, and support to youth in a variety of settings, including home, school, community, group home, and other out-of-home settings. The Peer Mentor will guide youth through their treatment process providing outreach, peer support and advocacy, all in accordance to the client’s individual service plan, help clients gain access to recovery resources and communities, and work in coordination with the clinical team while using his or her recovery experience as a positive model for clients’ process.
Requirements
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office) required
- Valid driver’s license and regular access to a reliable vehicle required
- High School Degree/GED required
- One year experience working with target population required
- Has successfully completed the Core Elements of Young Adult Peer Mentoring Training or is enrolled/waitlisted with DMH approval

Responsibilities
