About The Position

Weekly outpatient therapy isn't always enough, and a trip to the ER isn't the only answer. Patients and their families rely on Compass Health Center when in crisis – every day, we help people overcome depression, anxiety, suicidality, obsessions/compulsions, trauma, chronic pain, and other obstacles in order for our patients to live freely. At the core of Compass we believe in the power of community and connection, which is why we are committed to our group-based programming. As a group therapist, you will spend the majority of your time with our patients facilitating evidenced based groups using modalities like CBT, DBT, and ACT. We are seeking new and experienced clinicians with a passion for delivering dynamic and informative groups for our patients. Our location in Northbrook is our first and largest facility, and consists not only of our widest variety of programs, but also serves as a pilot site for many of our new treatment offerings.

Requirements

  • Hold the following licenses or education: LSW (or LSW eligible), LPC (or LPC eligible), LCSW, or LCPC
  • Possess a core skill set of CBT, DBT, ACT, and Motivational Interviewing skills
  • Have prior experience treating: Depression/Mood disorders, Anxiety disorders, Substance Use disorders

Nice To Haves

  • One year post master’s experience
  • Prior experience working in partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, inpatient hospital, or residential setting

Responsibilities

  • Providing group therapy to patients in a safe and therapeutic milieu with patients mostly aged 18-23
  • Facilitating and co-facilitating skills, psychoeducation, and process therapy groups using CBT, DBT, ACT, and Motivational Interviewing approaches within our Dual Diagnosis Intensive Outpatient Program
  • Facilitating and co-facilitating skills, psychoeducation, and process therapy groups using CBT, DBT, and ACT approaches within our General Mood and Anxiety Intensive Outpatient Program
  • Developing effective therapeutic group relationships that promote positive change in patients
  • Relaying relevant clinical information to treatment teams during daily rounds and throughout the day as needed
  • Developing program material and adjusting group therapy content, as needed, to fit group needs
  • Engaging in crisis management, as needed
  • Charting in our electronic medical records system
  • Participating in professional development activities
  • Meeting with patients individually for case management
