About The Position

Mountain Recreation is seeking a dependable and enthusiastic Substitute Yoga Instructor for the Gypsum Recreation Center. This role involves leading safe and welcoming yoga classes for all experience levels, providing modifications for varying abilities, and fostering a positive and relaxing environment. Experience with Kids Yoga is a plus. The organization emphasizes a culture where passion meets purpose, aiming to build a stronger, more connected community through recreation and service.

Requirements

Be 18 years of age or older
Be a high school graduate or equivalent
Hold group fitness certification and/or specific certification for classes
May require possession of or ability to obtain a valid First Aid/CPR certification within 30 days of hire.
Considerable knowledge of: exercise physiology, anatomy, kinesiology, and current group exercise and fitness practices and techniques for assigned classes.
Strong ability to lead fitness classes utilizing a variety of techniques, styles and formats
Ability to instruct and provide for the needs of a variety of ages and fitness levels
Ability to communicate effectively
Strong planning, organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills
Ability to demonstrate a positive, motivating and caring demeanor when teaching
Physically perform the duties associated with this position
Ability to work cooperatively with others and create a positive, constructive relationship with staff and the general public.

Nice To Haves

Kids Yoga experience is a plus
Spanish/English bilingual (eligible for a $1/hour incentive)

Responsibilities

Lead safe and rewarding group exercise classes, assisting individuals to achieve their personal fitness goals.
Instruct assigned classes, programs, and activities.
Plan, organize and implement curriculum based upon overall program objectives and guidelines.
Closely supervise and oversee the safety, comfort and progress of participants.
Assist class participants in developing and achieving their individual goals.
Develop rapport with participants and respond to questions and concerns.
Collaborate with the Facility Coordinator and Gypsum Recreation Center Management staff to develop, plan and schedule classes and programs.
Communicate with staff regarding facility, equipment and supply needs.
Set up, take down, clean-up, before and after class as required.
Address program specific risk management/safety issues.
Facilitate inclusion of special needs participants in program.
Manage accidents and incidents according to procedures.
Act as a mandatory reporter and comply with mandatory reporting guidelines.
Perform other duties as assigned.
