About The Position

The YMCA Cafe Associate is responsible for providing friendly, efficient customer service while preparing and serving menu items in a clean, safe, and welcoming environment at the Earlywine Park YMCA. The position includes preparing food according to established recipes and health and safety regulations, serving members and guests, processing payments, maintaining the café, and supporting its daily operations. The starting rate is $11.00 per hour.

Requirements

• Must be certified in CPR, AED, O2, and First Aid; training is provided by the Y if needed.
• Must complete required annual compliance training within 30 days of hire and renew it annually.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience in a service-oriented environment.
• Basic math skills and ability to accurately handle cash and process transactions.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift 30 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve menu items according to established recipes and health and safety regulations.
• Greet members and guests, take orders, answer questions, and make menu recommendations.
• Customize menu items to meet guest preferences while maintaining recipe standards.
• Accurately process cash, credit card, and other payment transactions.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary café, including food preparation areas, dining areas, and equipment.
• Complete an inventory checklist throughout the scheduled shift and communicate inventory shortages to a supervisor.
• Follow YMCA policies and health department regulations related to food handling, sanitation, and workplace safety.
• Assist with opening and closing procedures, including cleaning, stocking, and basic equipment maintenance.
• Develop meaningful and sustainable relationships with members, donors, and volunteers.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support the successful operation of the YMCA Café.
