About The Position
Join Our Team as a Heavy Equipment / Yellow Iron Mechanic! This role is based at the Heart of Florida Landfill in Lake Panasoffkee, FL. The schedule is Monday–Friday with Saturdays as needed. The pay rate is $35-$45 per hour, depending on experience (DOE).
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience with diesel engines and yellow iron equipment.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate technical service information.
- Strong knowledge of heavy equipment operation and maintenance.
- Ability to lift over 50 lbs and work in physically demanding conditions.
Nice To Haves
- Compactor experience is a plus!
- CDL preferred (but not required at time of hire).
Responsibilities
- Perform repairs and preventive maintenance on a variety of heavy equipment.
- Diagnose and fix electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems.
- Work with a fleet of yellow iron equipment including compactors, dozers, excavators, motor graders, water trucks, and articulated dump trucks.
- Operate bulldozers, wheel loaders, motor graders, and scrapers.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with OSHA and company standards.
