About The Position

Union Pacific Railroad is seeking high-energy, hard-working individuals with strong analytical and problem-solving skills who value teamwork and want to make a difference in the transportation industry. This year-round internship in the Human Resources department offers the opportunity to build knowledge and experience in core business groups, interact with senior leaders, and apply leadership, technical skills, and business knowledge through high-value project assignments. The Human Resources department is looking for students of junior status or below interested in working year-round. Interns will work full-time during the summer (mid-May to early August) and part-time during the school year, with flexible schedules to accommodate classes, requiring availability for 15-25 hours per week. This internship is within the Labor Relations team, where interns will manage projects from start to finish, similar to Human Resources analysts.

Requirements

  • College credits equivalent to one year toward an undergraduate degree
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic organization, prioritization and time/project management skills
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
  • 18 years of age or older

  • College credits equivalent to one year toward an undergraduate degree with a focus in Technology, Human Resources, Labor Relations, Legal Studies/Pre-Law, or related field

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing and reviewing labor contracts and related documents
  • Track contract compliance and assist in resolving contract disputes
  • Coordinate with the labor relations team to ensure accurate contract administration
  • Work closely with leaders to understand and address labor-related concerns
  • Assist in organizing, documentation and discussions related to labor issues
  • Support the implementation of labor relations strategies and initiatives
  • Maintain and update labor relations records and documentation
  • Prepare correspondence related to labor matters
  • Perform data entry and assist with document management and organization
  • Conduct research on labor relations trends
  • Draft reports and summaries on labor relations activities and issues
  • Analyze data and prepare presentations for internal stakeholders
  • Support cross-functional projects and/or strategic initiatives
  • Perform other duties as assigned
