About The Position

Responsible for assisting in the routing, shipping, and tracking of inbound and outbound orders. Informs carriers for freight pick-up and ensures shipments are routed appropriately.

Requirements

High School Diploma/GED preferred
Class A CDL
Must be 22 years or older
Must have 2+ years’ experience as a Yard Switcher
Knowledge of and ability to understand organization's policies, standards and procedures guiding manufacturing and logistics processes
Knowledge of strategies and tools for controlling and optimizing the factors that lie between the manufacturing of customer orders and delivery of finished products
Ability to effectively manage the business relationship with the transporters of raw materials and finished products.
Knowledge of issues and considerations for effectively managing local, regional and national distribution of inbound raw materials and outbound finished goods
Knowledge of the processes, tools and operational considerations for effective and efficient movement of goods and materials throughout the manufacturing cycle and logistics supply chain
Knowledge of the day-to-day operations of a manufacturing plant and warehouse facility

Responsibilities

Moves trailer to designated dock for loading and unloading
Inspects trailers for damage
Connects and disconnects tractor from trailer
During slower periods, act as a back-up for the Warehouse Coordinator and assist with warehouse functions such as forklift operator and data entry
Perform other job related duties as assigned
