About The Position

Ace Hardware is seeking a Yard Spotter to join their team. This role involves performing safety and mechanical checks on yard trucks and trailers, maneuvering trailers into designated spots, and operating a forklift for cross-dock loads. The Yard Spotter will also be responsible for maintaining a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety protocols, and contributing to a safe and productive workplace. Requirements

Be a safety champion by promoting a safe and productive workplace through your own actions, including the proper use of PPE, safe operation of powered equipment and safe lifting techniques as determined by the role.
Be an active participant in contributing to a successful safety culture in the facility.
High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Ability and willingness to work non-traditional shifts and hours.
CDL A Certification
Hazmat and Doubles endorsements
Minimum 1 year driving tractor/trailer combinations
Knowledge of DOT regulations on equipment standards and inspections

Responsibilities

Performs a complete safety and mechanical check of the Yard truck and trailers to be moved.
Drives to trailers, backs up to the trailer, raises 5th wheel, makes connections, removes wheel chock, and drives away.
Backs the trailer into the designed spot, disconnects the trailer, and installs chocks.
Drives forklift to make up cross dock loads.
Perform housekeeping duties, keep floors clean, and keep work areas neat and clean.
