About The Position

Join our Contract Lumber Team in Mason, Ohio, as a Yard Manager. We are committed to creating a fun and unique opportunity to provide creative solutions within the Lumber/Building industry. The Yard Manager is responsible for the supervision of the yard, overseeing all receiving, production, and shipping of building materials. This role ensures the protection of the company's investment in facilities, equipment, and inventory, while complying with all internal controls, policies, procedures, and federal/state regulations, including OSHA, DOT, and FMCSA. The Yard Manager works under the general direction of the Operations Manager.

  • Forklift Certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the yard and oversee receiving, production, and shipping of building materials.
  • Protect the company's investment in facilities, equipment, and inventory.
  • Ensure compliance with all internal controls, policies, procedures, and federal and state regulations (OSHA, DOT, FMCSA).
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with employees, management, and customers.
  • Collaborate with the Operations Manager to ensure appropriate staffing.
  • Work closely with the sales team on order issues and resolution.
  • Schedule production.
  • Ensure accuracy in the delivery of materials to job sites.
  • Track and monitor inventory status, supply usage, costs, and trends to maintain established inventory levels.
  • Request stock inventory purchases from the Inventory Manager.
  • Work with the Human Resources Department on employee relations issues.
  • Act as the Safety Leader for the appointed yard, performing and assisting with compliance training.
  • Ensure equipment, surroundings, and the yard follow company safety practices.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to take on responsibilities, challenges, and additional duties as required.
  • Perform minimal travel as required.
