About The Position

Central Transport is hiring a Yard Manager to oversee outbound operations for a designated section of a terminal dock. The role leads local LTL drivers and dock personnel, manages freight loading and sorting, and ensures production schedules, trailer loading, and facility performance goals are achieved. The manager is also responsible for monitoring work hours and overtime, maintaining safety and compliance, and supporting excellent service to internal and external customers. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The listed salary is $60,000–$75,000 plus bonus. An associate or bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required.

Requirements

Experience in transportation, cross-docking, or shipping and receiving; preferably in the LTL industry.
Familiarity with customs and cross-border transportation.
Strong leadership qualities.
Desire to provide customers with excellent service.
High aptitude for technology.
Ability to multitask while remaining detail-oriented.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

An associate or bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Oversee outbound operations for a designated section of the terminal dock.
Manage the loading process, forklift traffic, and proper picking and sortation of palletized freight.
Manage up to 30 local LTL drivers and dock personnel to achieve the designated production schedule.
Use independent judgment to build loads based on available labor and freight levels.
Ensure carriers are properly loaded by monitoring trailer cube and weight.
Provide leadership and accountability to drivers, dock workers, and dock hands.
Monitor dock production to ensure facility Key Performance Indicator goals are met or exceeded.
Monitor employee hours and overtime.
Maintain a safe work environment compliant with state and federal DOT and OSHA standards.
Ensure compliance with the company’s operational model.
Support a culture of excellence in the quality of products and service to internal and external customers.
