About The Position

The Yard Load Builder compiles loads of lumber and other construction materials for customer orders. The role often involves operating a forklift or industrial truck to move and load merchandise and materials. The position is listed as part-time/full-time, is non-exempt, and is in the Retail Store department. It reports to the DDS Manager / Department 5 Manager.

Responsibilities

Provide outstanding customer service.
Read work orders or invoices, or follow oral instructions, to determine which materials or containers need to be moved, gathered, or loaded.
Operate a forklift or industrial truck to assist with loading or moving merchandise and materials.
Load merchandise onto store delivery trucks for delivery or transfer.
Assist with unloading deliveries as necessary.
Confirm the quality and quantity of jobsite returns and put away resellable products.
Track and cull, cut, or modify lumber as needed.
Remove lumber from units and place boards in racks according to grade and length.
Assist customers with loading purchased merchandise.
Maintain an orderly and clean yard and racks.
Complete daily forklift inspections.
Follow loss prevention, inventory control, and compliance procedures.
Maintain awareness of hazards in the store that may affect employees or customers.
Communicate customer issues and concerns effectively to applicable internal staff members.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
