About The Position

The Yard Load Builder works in the Retail Store and reports to the DDS Manager / Department 5 Manager. The role compiles loads of lumber and other construction materials for customer orders and may operate a forklift or industrial truck to move and load materials and products. This position is designated non-exempt and may be part-time or full-time.

The position is very active, requiring standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and climbing throughout the day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items weighing up to 75 pounds. Responsibilities

• Provide outstanding customer service.
• Read work orders and invoices, or follow oral instructions, to determine which materials or containers need to be moved, gathered, or loaded.
• Operate a forklift or industrial truck to assist with loading or moving merchandise and materials.
• Load merchandise onto store delivery trucks for delivery or transfer.
• Assist with unloading deliveries as necessary.
• Confirm the quality and quantity of resellable products from jobsite returns and put them away.
• Track and cull, cut, or modify lumber as needed.
• Remove lumber from units and place boards in racks according to grade and length.
• Assist customers with loading purchased merchandise.
• Maintain the yard and racks in an orderly and clean condition.
• Complete daily forklift inspections.
• Follow loss prevention, inventory control, and compliance procedures.
• Remain alert to hazards in the store that may affect employees or customers.
• Communicate customer issues and concerns effectively to applicable internal staff members.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
