CDL A Yard Jockey
About The Position
US Foods is one of the largest food distributors with a culture and history of promoting from within, excellent training programs and a continuous improvement focus. This role is for a Yard Jockey who will generally be working Monday - Friday from 4:30 PM until completion. The Yard Jockey will communicate with the Dispatcher/Router for truck/trailer and door assignments, keep assigned equipment coupled, and move trailers between buildings as directed. Responsibilities also include loading, unloading, or merging loads between environments, staging shuttle trailers nightly for shuttle drivers, and setting up trailers for backhaul with tractors and empty pallets. The Yard Jockey will place backhauls in the correct door for unloading by the warehouse, ensure all equipment is paired and ready for the next day's deliveries, and work with mechanics nightly. Attendance at all required company meetings is mandatory, along with performing other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Register to the FMCSA Clearinghouse
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must have valid CDL Class A issued by the state of legal residence with necessary endorsements and DOT qualifications
- Ability to operate manual transmission preferred; may be required in specific locations
- Must be able to read and communicate in the English language - able to hold a conversation, to understand highway traffic signs and signals, to respond to official inquiries, and to enter information on reports and records
Nice To Haves
- Minimum of six months Class A commercial driving experience preferred
