The Yard Jockey is responsible for jockeying trailers under the direction of a supervisor or foreman, loading trucks as needed, and performing other assigned duties. This role involves preparing the work area, moving trailers between the lot and dock doors, assisting with raw material loads, and managing trailer stands. Additionally, the Yard Jockey will review bills of lading for product to be loaded, complete final certification for outbound loads, handle out-of-stock items, wrap partial pallets, process paperwork in the National Inventory System (NIS) or hand it to a supervisor, and stage or load pallets into trucks. The position also requires completing partial pallets, putting away mixed pallets, and maintaining housekeeping standards in the work area.
