Yard Jockey- Non CDL
About The Position
US Foods is one of the largest food distributors with a culture and history of promoting from within, excellent training programs and a continuous improvement focus. This role is responsible for communicating with the dispatcher/router for truck/trailer and door assignments, keeping assigned equipment coupled, and moving trailers between buildings as directed by the router or warehouse supervisor. The Yard Jockey will also load, unload or merge loads between environments, stage shuttle trailers nightly for shuttle drivers, and set up trailers for backhaul with a tractor and empty pallets. Additionally, they will place backhauls in the correct door to be unloaded by the warehouse, ensure all equipment is paired and ready for the next day's deliveries, and work with mechanics nightly. Attendance at all required company meetings is mandatory, and other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must have valid driver's license issued by state of residence
- Must be able to pass DOT physical
- Must be able to read and communicate in the English language - able to hold a conversation, to understand highway traffic signs and signals, to respond to official inquiries, and to enter information on reports and records
- Ability to lift/carry/push/pull 20 to 80+ lbs. of product repetitively during each shift required
- Comfortable driving and working in inclement weather conditions
Nice To Haves
- Minimum of six months Non-CDL commercial driving experience preferred
- Ability to operate manual transmission preferred; may be required in specific locations
