About The Position

We provide excellent customer service to local hospitals and healthcare professionals and represent one of the most prominent companies in the Medical Waste Industry. As a Yard Jockey Driver, you will be responsible for safely moving, staging, and positioning trailers throughout the facility yard while supporting daily transportation and logistics operations. This role serves as the primary Yard Jockey and will also provide coverage for Long-Haul and Roll-Off driving assignments during vacations, absences, and operational needs. In addition to driving responsibilities, you will be cross-trained in dispatch functions, including weighing trucks and trailers and providing operational support as needed. Requirements

  • Class A CDL required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of tractor-trailer driving experience preferred.
  • Experience operating tractor-trailers, Yard Jockey trucks, terminal tractors, or similar commercial vehicles preferred.
  • Roll-Off truck experience preferred but not required; training will be provided.
  • Valid DOT Medical Card.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen, background check, and motor vehicle records check.
  • Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and safe driving practices.
  • Ability to work a rotating 3 days on / 3 days off schedule, including weekends, holidays, and occasional night shift coverage.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, or handle containers and equipment of varying weight.
  • Ability to exert up to 150 pounds occasionally, 60 pounds frequently, and 20 pounds constantly.
  • May require mandatory immunizations and credentialing based on customer requirements.

  • Roll-Off truck experience preferred but not required; training will be provided.

Responsibilities

  • Safely move, stage, and position trailers throughout the facility yard to support daily operations.
  • Perform routine trailer spotting and yard management activities to maintain efficient workflow.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report maintenance concerns promptly.
  • Operate Yard Jockey trucks, tractor-trailers, Roll-Off trucks, and other commercial vehicles as assigned.
  • Provide coverage for Long-Haul Driver routes during vacations, absences, and special transportation assignments.
  • Provide coverage for Roll-Off Driver routes during scheduled vacations and operational needs.
  • Learn and perform dispatch functions, including weighing trucks and trailers in and out of the facility.
  • Provide dispatch coverage during breaks and lunches as needed.
  • Complete all required DOT logs, inspection reports, manifests, and transportation documentation.
  • Maintain compliance with all DOT regulations, company policies, and safety requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, operations, and facility personnel regarding transportation needs, route changes, and operational concerns.
  • Utilize ELD (Electronic Driver Log) systems for accurate reporting and compliance.
  • Other duties as needed.
