About The Position

The Yard Hostler is responsible for maneuvering and spotting 53-foot trailers at specific dock doors, loading zones, and staging areas to support warehouse deliveries. This role also involves managing the yard to keep it organized and clear of congestion, conducting daily safety inspections of yard tractors, tracking trailer movements using yard/trailer management systems, and ensuring safety compliance during all operations.

Requirements

• Valid driver's license
• Ability to operate yard tractors
• Knowledge of safety codes and local traffic regulations
• Experience with yard/trailer management systems
• Ability to perform pre- and post-trip inspections

Responsibilities

• Maneuver and spot 53-foot trailers at specific dock doors, loading zones, and staging areas to support warehouse deliveries.
• Keep the yard organized and clear of congestion to prevent dock bottlenecks.
• Conduct pre- and post-trip safety checks on yard tractors, checking fluids, lights, and brakes daily.
• Track trailer movements and container numbers using yard/trailer management systems and communicate status updates to warehouse staff.
• Secure, seal, and unhook trailers while strictly adhering to safety codes and local traffic regulations within the private facility.
